Flood Alleviation / Marine

Our civil engineering delivery team are experienced in the delivery of flood prevention and alleviation schemes. These works, delivered for our local authority clients are assigned to a lead project managers to deliver individual schemes and sub-programmes. These project leads have the capability as required to support the project through the whole lifecycle, from optioneering through to scheme completion.

Through the combined resource of the Projects, Highway Maintenance and Supply Chain teams, we are able to respond quickly to changing client priorities and requirements particularly following major flooding events. This process often involves the coordination and collaboration with multiple parties to ensure that common goals and appropriate solutions are delivered. 

To drive the best outcomes possible, Milestone Infrastructure directly employs a team of experienced and knowledgeable project managers supported by experienced engineering professionals.

What we do

Flood alleviation is an  area we have successfully delivered a number of high profile projects, some of which have been on a reactive basis following abnormal flood events. Key to their success has been our teams working with our clients from the identification of the flood risk right through to project completion and handover. Our early and collaborative client engagement has seen us drive best value through project delivery and also through goal alignment implementing solutions that greatly reduce future flood occurrences and provide assurance to our clients and all stakeholders.   

The individual  flood alleviation and marine project types we have completed include but not limited to the following:

  • Drainage system upgrades
  • River channel construction
  • Weir construction
  • Culvert construction
  • Sheet piling retainment walls
  • Headwall construction
  • Gabion basket retainment structures  

Our Approach

We work collaboratively with our clients to ensure the best outcomes for all stakeholders, through tried and tested goal alignment and continuous improvement practices. Taking consideration of the bespoke project constraints and having a robust plan to mitigate is key to ensuring a positive project performance which contributes to the successful delivery of the projects with the performance goal of reducing flood risks to our clients, the communities in which we work and all stakeholders.
