We recognise the impact our operations have whilst working within local communities and take a proactive approach to leaving a lasting, positive legacy – our social value commitment.
In line with the three pillars of sustainability we deliver long-term benefits to the local communities, economies and environments we work in as well as adding value to our customers and providing a diverse and engaging place to work for our people. This approach is inherent in our corporate values and is a key focus of our business plan as well as being a key part of the service we bring to our customers and stakeholders.
At Milestone Infrastructure our project teams become part of the local community, delivering benefits to the local economy, improving the environment we operate in and supporting local people we work alongside.
We create inclusive and diverse places to work, offering attractive employment to local people and bringing new talent into the industry as part of this commitment we created the Milestone Infrastructure Inclusion Network. Being a diverse organisation ensures we maximise potential for new ways of thinking and build successful and winning teams.
We work with schools and other organisations through ‘Open Doors’, work experience and mentoring initiatives to provide younger generations with role models. Our goal is to inspire further study and promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) learning, along with encouraging greater diversity in our industry.
We support the communities we work in by engaging with disadvantaged groups and helping them to enter or return to employment through education, training and job creation. Working alongside strategic partners such as Evenbreak, Buildforce and the Career Transition Partnership we provide skills and employment opportunities for team members that might have previously been overlooked.
We are a true learning organisation and on each of our projects we commit to nurturing our talent through traineeships, apprenticeships and graduate placements opportunities, focusing on providing such opportunities for members of the local community.
Through our sustainable procurement practices we ensure that the benefits of our work stay within the local community and we actively support and engage local businesses to grow and upskill themselves.
Long-term charity partnerships can be a great way of giving back to society, while also providing sustainable benefits to both organisations. Milestone Infrastructure supports local charities and social enterprise groups through long term strategic partnerships, offering support through our technical skills and the time of our employees through volunteer days.
