Last week, our Oxfordshire team welcomed seven veterans to our Drayton Highways Depot to take part in Lifeworks, an employability programme, delivered by Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI).

The Lifeworks programme was developed by veterans for veterans and is designed to equip service leavers with the necessary tools to find meaningful employment outside the Armed Forces.

The four-day course covered CV-writing, job applications and interview preparation, as well as recognising and dealing constructively with change and how to best showcase valuable skills gained via the military to civilian employers.

Our team was proud to both fund and host the four-day course, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.

During the week, the veterans took part in mock interviews, hosted by our colleagues, who had volunteered their time to support the initiative. Participants also learnt about our Military Accelerated Programme (MAP), which provides a tailored development plan so that service leavers can start a career in highways without taking a drop in pay.

Participants said the course helped boost their confidence and recognise the invaluable skills they can bring to civilian employment.
